How to connect a Telegram business bot

    Open your bot’s “Settings”

    At the bottom of the bot menu, open “Settings”, then “The bot in your private chats”. You’ll find instructions and the connection status there.

    Enable Secretary Mode

    In @BotFather: /mybots → your bot → Bot Settings → Secretary Mode → enable it. This button used to be called Business Mode.

    Connect your bot in Telegram

    Settings → Chat Automation → enter your bot and allow it to reply to messages.

    Check the connection in your dashboard

    Your account appears in the bot’s settings. The first connection is treated as yours; any others require your approval.

FAQs

Why does it say “This bot doesn’t support Telegram for Business yet”?
The required bot mode is disabled. In @BotFather: /mybots → your bot → Bot Settings → Secretary Mode → enable it. Older instructions call this button Business Mode.
Do I need Telegram Premium?
No. Since July 2026, a secretary bot works without a subscription.
Which chats can a business bot reply in?
Private conversations where the other person has messaged within the last 24 hours. Telegram doesn’t include groups or channels in business connections.
Can someone else connect my bot?
Anyone who knows your bot’s @username can connect it, but their conversations won’t appear until you approve the connection. You can remove someone else’s connection and its conversations.
